Introduction of individual software packages for increased flexibility

Written by Sylvie Rest | Mar 3, 2022 3:02:00 PM

Flexibly adaptable to any application and always up to date: Four new software packages give users of HORST robots maximum flexibility and guarantee an optimal price-performance ratio.

Introduction of individual software packages for increased flexibility

fruitcore robotics is driving forward the digitalization if its robotics portfolio and is now offering customers four individually selectable software options. The flexible offer replaces the previous all-inclusive price for the HORST robot - including software. In the new model, companies choose a robot system - HORST600, HORST1000, or HORST1400 - and book the software package of their choice in addition, depending on their requirements and budget. It is also possible to purchase the software.

Fruitcore robotics is committed to harnessing the potential of robotics for the entire breadth of the economy and to optimizing robots for applications far beyond large production lines. The combination of low-cost hardware with software packages that can be selected as needed is another milestone towards achieving this goal.

The added value of software in robotics

"Robots are much more than just hardware," says Jens Riegger, CEO and Co-Founder of fruitcore robotics. "A large part of the added value comes from the software; it makes robots an important element of digitalization and ultimately turns our robots into digital robots. Our new, individually selectable software packages guarantee users the best possible option for the current use case, while at the same time granting maximum flexibility and future-proofing: If requirements change, they can book a different package and also always rely on us to keep all packages up to date with the latest technology through frequent updates."

Overview of the new software packages

Fruitcore robotics has put together four software packages tailored to user requirements, through which the robots can be configured. "Starter," "Professional," "Digital" and "Premium." All four contain different module constellations of the horstFX operating software. All users also receive access to the horstCOSMOS IoT platform. The "Starter" package offers two options: If the applications are to be implemented without major programming effort, the choice falls on the "horstFX graphic" module with its simple graphical operation. If extended interfaces are required (Profinet, Modbus, XML-RPC) so that HORST can communicate with other machines, "horstFX external" can be booked.
  •
  • In the "Profi" package, users also opt for one of the "horstFX graphic" or "horstFX external" modules. However, the package also includes the extended robot performance "horstFX performance." This is required when high speed and short cycle times are needed.
  •
  • In the "Digital" package, all three modules of the operating software are available. Users benefit from easy graphical operation, extrended interfaces and enhanced robot performance. The "Digital" package is also offered as a purchase option.
  • The most comprehensive "Premium" software package bundles all the features of the pther packages and also offers three desktop licenses of the horstFX operating software as well as training content and videos from the ACADEMY premium.

HORST - the Digital Robot

HORST robots are inexpensive, powerful and easy to operate. Installation and setup are guided by drag-and-drop menus; operation requires no prior knowledge. The very greatest strength lies in the high degree of digitalization. A robot alone cannot yet automate an application; it requires intelligent linking of various components such as grippers, CNC systems or safety systems. With the horstFX operating software and the horstCOSMOS IoT platform, these components are networked more closely than has been customary in the industry to date. Already today, fruitcore robotics' systems take over the control of the entire robot environment and represent the interface between the physical application and the digital IoT platform.

The role of Digital Robots in value creation

"Digital Robots are not limited to a few specialized applications; via software, they can be configured for a wide variety of scenarios and contribute to value creation as an important digitalization building block even in small companies. We will continue to work on providing our customers with more and more options for optimally integrating digital robots into their workflows via updates," summarizes Jens Riegger.
